Dancer in the Doorway

1985

Dancer in the Doorway: Ceremonial Garment, was commissioned by Louise DeShane for Virginia Satir who was an American psychotherapist. The work was influenced by Max Tilke’s book Costume Patterns and Design. This book and the design brief: to make a garment worthy of a modern day goddess, guided explorations in the healing benefits of performative costumes that resulted in this textile work.
